Methods of Teaching

I don’t understand the reasoning behind teaching within narrowly defined parameters.  Algebra, chemistry, English literature, etc., have no overlap in our typical method of breaking education into neatly defined classes.  But life doesn’t come in separate chunks, rather it flows, it overlaps, it is related, one aspect to another.  The real need is to understand how science, philosophy, language, art and politics impact each other.  To know how they relate is to understand the world in which you are a participant.   Seeing the threads that bind the picture together gives more depth of awareness.
